Scrooby Thomson Land
The Scrooby Thomson Land, forming part of Oak Farm is located some 300m to the south of Lodge Farm located also to the east of the A638 Great North Road, between the villages of Scrooby and Ranskill, [centred on NGR SK658888], postcode DN22 8FR.
The site is a 1.75ha area of agriculturally cultivated land which is located immediately adjacent to and the south of angling lakes forming part of Lodge Farm Fisheries. To the east, this land neighbours the East Coast mainline railway.
To the west the land forms part of a much larger parcel of agriculturally cultivated land which sits approximately at 9m AOD. To the south, the site is defined by an established hedgerow. A hard surfaced access road provides connectivity from this land, to the north, and existing access arrangements from Scrooby Quarry South to the A638 public highway.

The proposed development would see the extraction of some 60,000 tonnes of sand and gravel at a rate of 40,000 tonnes per annum

Restoration will be to a conservation waterbody, with landscaping which together provides for biodiversity gain

The site will be worked in one phase, with working taking place west to east towards the site boundary. A standoff from the adjacent railway will be employed to ensure ground stability.

All minerals won will be transported to Scrooby Top Quarry via the existing haul road located on the site’s northern and eastern boundary, connecting to the existing access point which serves Scrooby South Quarry - For routes refer back to Location and Context page
